It is with great sadness to inform whaanau of the passing of our matriach Maria Joya Atina Bishop (Sissy). Eldest daughter of Sonny Matepupuhi Bishop (Ngāti Mahanga) and Mihimoana Epapara (Ngāti Rongomai). Aunty is survived by her Brothers and Sisters,her many nephews/nieces and mokopuna here and in Australia.
One of her greatest achievements was being the longest serving Police employee in Aotearoa,NZ with 48 years of service. Our whānau are grateful for the love and support shown by the NZ Police for Maria throughout her career.
She will lay at Te Hiukura Marae (Ngāpūmanawa e waru o Te Arawa) Ruatō Bay, Rotoiti from this Thursday 4th August until her nehu (burial) on Saturday 6th August, church service commencing at 11am.
Please adhere to Marae protocols regarding Covid restrictions. If you are not feeling well we ask that you please remain at home and look after yourself and your well being.
